GOMBE TURNS BUSINESS HEAVEN

Recent  business statistics has indicated that Jigawa, Gombe and Borno states are turning into success stories in terms of  business  development, tourism, agriculture as well as construction activities this was contained in a report compiled by the World Bank..http://africabusiness.com/2010/06/11/northern-nigeria’s-states-are-more-business-friendly-than-all-the-other-states-in-nigeria/

The report also said that Nigeria has also moved up from 172 positions among the 183 countries on the index compared this year.

The report which was launched in Abuja showed that Mauritius is the 2010 top performers in sub-Saharan Africa on the performers in starting a business while Rwanda is the overall 2010 global top reformer.

Four indicators among others were selected to assess the countries, the 36 state and the federal capital territory in Nigeria.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/States_of_Nigeria

Among the indicators used to select and assess the countries, the 36 states and the FCT in Nigeria are starting a business, dealing with construction permits, registering property  and rapid increase in tourism related activity.

The indicators pointed that  in terms of the best practices in starting a business, Nigeria ranked sixty two, in dealing with construction permits eighty nine registering property and forty six in enforcing contract.

Jigawa state perfomed better, Gombe and Borno states occupied second and third positions respectively
while Anambara, Imo and Ogun states were ranked the lowest in the report.

Kano state was adjudged top reformer because of three reforms it introduced since the publicatiobn of doing business in Nigeria in two thousand and eight.http://www.worldbank.org/reference/
